Description

Accidents happen. People get hurt, sick, or lost just about everywhere, but things are different on the water. The temperature drops, the wind picks up, and it starts to rain. Would you know what to do? Many water-based backcountry emergencies are preventable, and even when bad things happen, sometimes the wrong care can make things worse. By learning a few basic skills, you can make the difference between a good outcome and a bad one and maybe even save a life.

This is a two-day first aid course specific to racing sailboats and the environment in which we work.  This course is perfect for anyone in the sport or who wants more advanced medical training than what you normally get in a basic course. This course is mostly hands-on utilizing our Farr 40 in the shop, docks, and Oakcliff Campus for different scenarios. Space is limited so sign up fast!

Limited housing will be available upon request. Some snacks and coffee are included.

This course will be instructed by the Center for Wilderness Safety.

To sign up please email training@oakcliffsailing.org. The cost is $225 and registration is through the Center for Wilderness Safety.
